Dordogne holiday cottages to let. Les Grands Chais de la Meyfrenie is a holiday gite in the old restored farm buildings of this historic monument (ISMH). The owners of which still occupy the Chateau. This is a beautifully restored gite in the grounds of an historic Chateaux first built at the end of the XV century and rebuilt around 1825 after a fire. The buildings around the Chateau once housed wine producing requiremnets.Today they house a beautiful large holiday home and an equestrian centre. The Grand Chai occupies a southern wing of one of these buildings and comprises of a very large lounge / dining area that opens onto the private walled garden. Next to this is the well equipped kitchen including a gas cooker, washing machine and dishwasher, 2 refrigerators with freezers and a microwave, electric coffee maker, iron and ironing board. There are 6 bedrooms for 2 persons, and a large dormitory with 6 single beds. There are two shower rooms each with 2 shower cubicles and three wash basins.There are separate toilets on both floors.The ground floor of the gite has gas heating, there is electric heating on the first floor. Outside, the garden is private and enclosed and is set around a central feature of a water fountain, fir trees and fruit trees. In a fenced and protected area adjoining the garden is the private swimming pool 12.5 x 5 m with separate changing room facilities. There is a barbecue, garden furniture and a ping pong table.   Activities (on site and in local area) In the village of Verteillac is a public open air pool and there are tennis courts a short walk away. There is plenty to do in the area including canoeing and fishing on the river Dronne a short drive away (10km) Rock climbing at Paussac St Vivien (10km) plenty of areas for walks and bike rides. The area has a lot to offer by way of music festivals locally during July and August, there are museums locally and chateaux to visit that are open to the public. There are many very good restaurants in the area to provide you with the gastronomic delicacies the area is so famous for.
